Become a Chapter

Including the BE THE LIGHT® Club chapter at your school will give your students the opportunity to directly serve their community, build leadership skills and strengthen on environment of social skills among their peers.

The Ari Arteaga Foundation has partners with several local organizations to assist in serving our youth in the BE THE LIGHT® Club and the Be the Little Light Club.

Breakthrough Miami

An academic enrichment program featuring a student-teaching-students model, which supports middle schoolers with their studies into high school.

Be Strong International

Partners with local schools to empower teens through leadership skills, character development, and building positive relationships.

Miami Learning Experience School

Provides care and education for children who have developmental disabilities with the goal of building their personal confidence and independence.

CARE Elementary School

Provides a nurturing Christian environment where children from the Overtown community receive the best opportunity for academic success and character development.

Service Opportunities

BE THE LIGHT® and Be the Little Light Club Members will have a wide variety of direct and indirect service opportunities, which gives them the chance to participate in many different roles and allows them to take more initiative in leading their peers.

Direct Service

Direct service opportunities provide hands-on activities that bring club members face-to-face with people they are serving, including:

  • Participate in different activities with students from local special needs schools
  • One-on-one reading time with after school programs
  • Host and attend birthday parties for the youth in our partner organizations.
  • Participate in extracurricular activities with youth including art, music and dance.
  • Food pantry collection and distribution to communities in need of food.
  • Thanksgiving distribution of turkeys and non-perishables for families in underserved communities.

Indirect Service

Indirect service opportunities primarily focus on collecting funds and goods to be distributed within the community, including:

  • Fundraising
    • Raise funds for the BE THE LIGHT® Scholarship
    • Sponsor after-school programs
  • Food Pantry
    • Sort pantry items
    • Participate in Foundation turkey drive
    • Collect food, toiletries and supplies
  • Additional Service Opportunities
    • BE THE LIGHT® Leadership Program
    • Supporting Ari Arteaga Foundation fundraising events
    • Preparation for direct service events (e.g. creating decorations, Christmas cards, etc.)
    • Virtual community service
