Alyn Fernandez

A strategic and analytical professional with extensive experience in government relations, customer service, communications, and psychology.  In addition to her experience and knowledge in the government sector, she is an effective leader and a highly organized individual with a strong work ethic.  Alyn recently rejoined the South Florida U.S. Small Business Association (SBA) team in 2020.  In her new role she as the Outreach and Marketing Specialist. 

Prior to the SBA, she returned to Marin and Sons in 2019 as the VP of Business Development.   In her role, she was responsible for identifying and pursuing opportunities and expanding the client base.  She managed and lead an internal team of five and an external team of twenty.  

Prior to her time with Marin and Sons, she was a part of the Marco Rubio Team for 8 years.  She started in the Rubio for Senate campaign finance team in 2011, where she coordinated fundraising events and secured campaign contributions.  Upon the Senator’s successful victory, she ran his South Florida Regional office, serving him in Miami Dade, Broward & Monroe.  She served as the liaison and advisor to Senator Rubio.  She served to develop and bridge relationships between elected officials, the community and the Rubio Team.   She managed a team of seven staff members and an intern team. She coordinates and engage in the community and facilitate relationships serving as a surrogate for the Senator at events and meetings. 

Prior to her time with Senator Rubio, she worked with the Marin and Sons in 2008.  In her role of external affairs, she developed new client business, planned and coordinated strategic meetings between clients and public officials, and managed fundraisers and events.  Additionally, she implemented community-positioning programs and consulted clients on how best to promote their services.

She also consultant and fundraiser for candidates at the local, state, and federal level.  She developed strategies for securing campaign contributions from potential contributors and maintain business relationships with various government officials throughout the State of Florida.

She earned her Bachelor of Science degree in 2000 and Master of Science in Psychology in 2004 from Florida International University.  She began her professional career as a mental health counselor throughout South Florida and worked with at-risk-youth for 8 years.  She has continued her outreach in the community by serving as an Adjunct Professor for Florida International University since 2014 and previously taught at Miami Dade College.   She is also a Qualified Supervisor for students striving to attain a Licensed for Mental Health Counseling.  

She created a program from the elderly in which she fundraised for “Adopt a Grandparent” and visited the nursing homes with a gift for each elder during the holiday season. She also fundraised and supports ‘Casa Raquel’ from Puerto Rico.  She remains active with at-risk-youth and in the community by engaging with several organizations such as Family Resource Center, St. Jude, Honor Flight, St. Michaels Veterans Transition Program & Girl Scouts. 

She attends and is actively involved with St. Timothy Catholic Church.  In addition to my professional endeavors, she is a proud wife and mom of five children.  Lucas – 15, Ashley – 15, JJ – 13, Cristian – 13 & Amaya – 4.
